If for whatever reason a family in our community is in need of help, our Cedar Trails Cares committee is here to support them!
School staff communicates the needs they would like to fulfill and our volunteers step up to make it happen (anonymity guaranteed, managed by school staff). The chair person to this program is responsible for receiving requests from school and reaching out to their volunteer pool to fill those needs as best we can.

These fun Summer play groups are for our newest Wolf Cubs!
Play groups will be planned at Cedar Trails' playground as well as other local area parks and in different schedules to accommodate more families. We hope seeing some familiar faces on the first day of school will ease any anxiety for kindergarteners and parents too!

This chairperson oversees our school's Lost and Found, which has limited space. Items are collected and kept in the MPR. Identified items will be returned to the child's classroom.
Newsletter announcements will be made reminding parents to check Lost & Found. Periodically, items will be donated to the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank or another designated charity. Before this is done, parents will get another newsletter notification announcing the date of donation. |

The objective of this program is to foster a love of reading!
This is a voluntary program for the students, though the majority of students choose to participate at some level. Students earn prizes as they read outside class time and record their reading minutes online. A parent volunteer is needed from each classroom to review the logs and award the prizes. The chairperson oversees classroom volunteer tallying, prize distribution and communications.

The objective of this program is to continue to help build our school’s library as well as foster a love for books and a sense of pride in our library. Parents are given the opportunity to purchase a book that will be donated to the library in their child’s name.
The chairperson is responsible to identify each book with the student's name and message as well as communicate when books are purchased to the school's librarian.

Each year the Washington State PTA, in partnership with the National PTA, sponsors a state wide arts education contest known as the Reflections Program. The theme is updated every Spring and this information is available on the WA State PTA website, www.wastatepta.org.
The student art entries will be judged at the school (Cedar Trails), the winners move on to Council (Issaquah School District) and then Washington State PTA levels. The State PTA winners are entered into the National PTA contest. The chairperson promotes and organizes the program at our school level coordinating the acceptance of entries, judging and sending winners to Issaquah Council. Reflections Details

The Cedar Trails Elementary PTSA 2.6.12 Spelling Bee is a fun contest open to all students, where kids get a chance to show off their oral spelling ability in front of an audience.

The Issaquah School District nurses perform vision and hearing testing for all Cedar Trails students on a yearly basis. This coordinator is responsible for acting as liaison to the school nurse as well as soliciting and scheduling volunteers. Volunteers will be trained right before their shift.

The Cedar Trails PTSA will accept grant applications that benefit our school.
The Enrichment Grant Committee will process and determine which grant applications to fund. This committee is chaired by the Vice President. A committee of 5-7 PTSA members, balanced by grade levels (K-5), is formed to review and weigh all the grant applications based on the grant criteria. The committee chair presents a recommendation report to the Board, at which time the Board votes whether to approve the grant recommendations. This committee's work is in the fall/winter. Enrichment grants allow teachers to buy classroom supplies, teaching tools, and invite speakers/presenters to teach specialized lessons to the kids.

Serve as a liaison between the PTSA board of directors and all the room parents.
Room Parents act as a PTSA liaison and are chosen by each teacher. Depending on the needs of each teacher, they usually help the teacher schedule classroom volunteers and help coordinate party planning. The Room Parent Coordinator coordinates all the Room Parents. He/she provides information to the Room Parents who in turn distribute (via e-mail) information to their class.

Three picture days are scheduled during the school year: Individual Picture Day, Make-up/Retake Individual Picture Day, and Class Picture Day.
The chair is responsible for assisting the photographer in taking pictures during the year. The chair is also responsible for coordinating parent volunteers and working with the front office staff regarding picture day details.

The coordinator of this committee is responsible for scheduling all library volunteers, according to the needs communicated by our Librarian. Scheduling is done on a monthly basis. Volunteers work on a rotational basis (depending on their preference and availability) and help with shelving books, checking out books, and preparing overdue slips.

No time and patience to shop all over town for your children school supplies? We got you! All your supplies will be delivered to your door, you just search Cedar Trails Elementary and indicate the grade of your children. All list are customizable so you can remove what you already have at home.
This chairperson is responsible for collecting the supply list (Spring) from staff and coordinating the creation of the online store with our vendor. Needs to coordinate with the communications team to advertise it to our families.

Dining for Dollars is a program that supports our PTSA and builds community by partnering with local restaurants. Cedar Trails coordinates with local restaurants and earns up to 20% of food and beverages sold on the event night/day (each restaurant will vary slightly) and you take a break from making dinner - it's a win for everyone!

Every Wednesday is Spirit Wear day – you can wear the school colors (navy and sage) or a cool shirt with our logo! Clothing and accessories can be purchased online by students, parents and staff to raise money for PTSA.
Wolf Pack Spirit Wear is sold in the Summer and again in Winter. The chair for Wolf Pack Spirit Wear works with a local vendor on selecting products and logo design as well as online store creation and distribution of the orders. Online ordering and deadlines are advertised in all our communication channels so keep and eye out! |

The goal of the Cedar Trails Holiday Giving Program is to help Issaquah families in need while demonstrating to our students the importance of charitable giving.
The program helps fill the Issaquah Food Bank's holiday shopping center for participating Issaquah school district children ages birth - 18. The program begins before Thanksgiving and runs for about two weeks. |

This committee creates an annual Cedar Trails yearbook that is available for purchase by students and staff, and delivered in June.
The chairs and committee work to plan and design the yearbook. The yearbook features every class, specialist, and school group. It also highlights other activities that occur during the school year. |

Three times per year students are able to register to attend a movie after school on an early release Wednesday. Students enjoy a snack and watch the movie with friends and are picked up after the movie is over by a parent or guardian.

One Friday each month, the smell of delicious popcorn is in the air! Students can purchase popcorn for 25 cents, so just "pop" on over to the PTA Popcorn room and enjoy a bag. The popcorn helpers are responsible for making and selling popcorn to students during second recess on one Friday per month. The coordinators of this program are responsible for coordinating parent volunteers. They are also responsible for ordering the popcorn, preparing and communicating the weekly schedule, training the committee, collecting funds and giving them to the PTSA treasurer.
